Hi, my name is Josh Kallenberg and I'm here at the Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles, California. I've been flying professionally for about 13 years, and now I have the pleasure of flying this Gulfstream G450 which is a lot of fun and exciting. And today I'm going to talk to you about becoming a pilot. What are pilot salaries nowadays? Well, they vary of course. With every job, whether the airlines or with corporate or private. As a flight instructor you'll make anywhere from 20 to 30 dollars an hour. Again, mind you, you're not working 40 hours a week usually. A good rule of thumb is take your hourly rate, times it by 1,000, you make $20 an hour you might make somewhere around $20,000 a year. You get a job flying for the commuters, the regionals, or again some charter operations, you might expect pay in the teens. You might need to take a second job on the side.
